Defining your maximum or 100% heart rate

The JDHR Zones datafield uses your maximum heart rate defined in your userprofile to calculate the intensities.

Many devices detect your max HR automatically.

If not, it is important to define a correct and reasonable 100% heart rate.  Do not enter a peak heart rate that you have actually measured during a hard effort.

To find your 100% heart rate (HR), you can do steady runs uphill or 800m intervals with a short recovery time. After each run, measure your HR. If your HR is higher on the second run, you have not reached your 100% HR yet. Repeat this process until your HR does not increase on subsequent runs. This is your 100% HR.
An example to get the idea: Theoretical HR: 170, Peak HR: 175, 100% HR: 167.

As a test you can run some intervals and see if you can reach the correct intensity with the JDHR Zones datafield. If you can't reach the correct intensity, you have probably entered a too high 100% HR.

You can also use an estimate based on your age with: 208 - (age * 0.7)

The JDHR Zones datafield also writes the intensity of your run to the FIT file. You can see the intensity of your run in Garmin Connect.
